I got to tell a kid I was part robot today.

She noticed the Libre sensor on the back of my arm while her mom was heading through the grocery till. I explained that the sensor monitored the inside part of me because my insides don’t work as well as other peoples. Then I showed her the insulin pump on my tummy and said that’s where I get my medicine.

“So I am kind of part robot.”

She thought that was cool.

Kids ask. It’s very awesome.

Just had an appointment with the nurse at the diabetes clinic to adjust my pump settings a bit more. Changed the basal overnight so the increase starts at 4am instead of 5am to try and catch that rise I get in the morning. She said to try a week with that and then possibly change the sensitivity factor- from 7 to 6.2.

She also gave me a Freestyle Libre sensor to try out. It’s a wearable sensor that implants in your skin. It comes with a little scanner that looks like a mini cell phone so you can see you BG reading without a finger poke. There is a bit of a discrepancy/delay with the reading so I couldn’t use it to dose for meals but it’s accurate enough that I don’t need to worry about finger pokes all day. I just put it on this afternoon and it should last 14 days. I am really looking forward to trying it out and hope it works for some piece of mind.
